Kenya is blessed with some of the best diving on the East Coast of Africa along with some of the world's best wildlife safari parks making for a truly amazing holiday experience. Whether you are looking for world class diving, safaris, climbing or just a relaxing beach holiday, Kenya has it all.
As some of our staff have lived and worked extensively in this area we would suggest calling to chat through your options, so we can point you in the right direction of which resort to consider.
Diani Beach After extensive investigation into all the resorts along this coast line Planet have chosen to offer Diani Beach as our preferred holiday destination in East Africa. Here you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, away from the main tourist areas found in Mombasa North Coast. Here at Planet we endeavour to provide impartial advice on all our destinations and enjoy constructing tailor-made itineraries to suit your exact requirements. This is especially important in Kenya, as there is such a wide choice of activities, both above and below the water.
The water temperature is generally around 27 C and is constant to depths exceeding sport-diving limits. A 3mm wetsuit should be sufficient. While most diving is from boats, there are also some exciting shore dives.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.
The full PADI Open Water Course usually takes 5 days. However, we understand that your holiday time is precious to you and you may not wish to spend time studying theory but would rather be in the water having fun! There are two option to help shorten the course time in resort:
Referral Course: this is where you do the theory and pool training before you go on holiday which then just leaves the 4 qualifying dives to complete the course.
This a great way to maximise the time you can spend actually diving on your holiday but may prove more expensive overall to split the course this way.
Express Course: this is where we send you a; Crew Pack' C which includes a CD Rom, for you to self study the Theory prior to your holiday. This then just leaves you to sit the PADI Open Water paper in resort, do the pool training and then the 4 qualifying dives - but no classroom work!
