this is where you'll relax! [Full Image]
Beautiful little boutique 17th Century chateau WITH activity packages at budget prices - fantastic value! All-inclusive or self-catering; multi-activity/specialist sports/family/adrenalin/relaxing ho

Not only do you get to stay 'boutique' in a chateau for a budget price, you also get a package price which includes an array of activities and sports comparable to Club Med without the 'package' feel - from hangliding to mushroom picking, and everything in between! Choose from........the family package...the adrenalin package....the EXPERTS package....the relaxing package....the kids package....OR....CREATE YOUR OWN PACKAGE. Either self-catering or all-inclusive or something in between...we will combine it for you...and your budget.

'Chateau de Cautine is like stepping straight into a film' as one of our guests put it. Full of original antiques, cosy furnishings, sleigh beds, huge open fireplaces it has a 15-metre salt-water pool, 34 acres of fields and woods and its own stream. It's great for both kids and adults to roam around in (there's even a chest full of wellie boots)!

We start our prices off low so everyone can afford it. You can share a triple room for a week with extra beds for the kids and do your own catering or your can have the full monty with your own suite, breakfast in bed, fluffy dressing gowns and slippers and pre-dinner cocktails and nibbles. Or you can do a bit of both to make it fun.

We've teamed up with some of the best adventure sports companies in the Dordogne and we can offer you a very special range of activities for everyone from total sports enthusiasts to absolute beginners and from 5 years to 75 years of age!! We can take you to all your activities and have guides/tuition for everything or you can go it alone..up to you! Everyone in the group can do a different activity so that takes care of the generation gaps and the expertise gaps and whatever other gaps you may have in your family, group or couple and you can all get together around the huge table in the evenings and compare notes while enjoying our delicious fare.

Argentat > France > Europe
Location Description
The chateau is situated on a beautiful plateau at the edge of the Dordogne Valley. The near-by village is St. Privat, 5 mins from the chateau, and the nearest town is Argentat located 15mins away. Argentat itself is a picturesque medieval town which lies either side of the Dordogne river, and has a great selection of restaurants, shops and riverside walks. Beyond Argentat you can explore the Dorgogne valley full of fascinating villages, chateaux and caves, and nearby we have the fascinating ruins of the Tours de Merle, a medieval fortress.
To the west are a group of villages identified as being amongst ‘Les plus belles village de France’, amongst them, Collonges-le Rouge, the red city and Turenne, a 15th century village whose high pitched roofs surround two castles from which the foothills of the Massif Central can be seen. Also to the west is the Dordogne valley, with a wealth of towns and villages such as Argentat, Beaulieu sur Dordogne, La Roche Canillac, Loubressac, Autoire, Carennac and Martel. The Chateau de Bac, Chateau de Soulages, Chateau de Rieu, the Chateau de Val and the Chateau Rilhac-Xaintrie are all close by, while the citadel of Rocamadour is only 50 minutes drive away.
If you want to explore a little further afield, the world famous cave paintings of Lascaux, and La Chapelle aux Saints, site of the discovery of the oldest Neanderthal man, can be reached in an hour, along with the many other attractions of the Lower Dordogne area. The Cahors, Bergerac and Bordeaux wine regions are also within easy reach.
The Massif Central mountains are an hour and a half’s drive away where there are a number of ski resorts so it is possible to drive for a day’s skiing. There is also an excellent aqua park 20 minutes drive away, providing hours of enjoyment for children.
Cultural activities and events take place in many of the towns nearby with concerts and performances throughout the summer. There is also the famous Festival of Sedieres, held in the nearby Chateau de Sedieres, a music, film and art festival running over a 6-week period every year from mid July.
