3 hours by road south of Hurghada (direct flights to Marsa Alam airport during the summer months) this is one of Egypt's most exciting destinations and the best land based diving in the Red Sea! This whole coast line is one huge fringing reef of exceptional quality with new dive sites being discovered all the time. Dive sites such as Elphinstone (famous for its hammerheads!) and Dolphin Reef, previously only accessible to southern Red Sea liveaboards, can now be dived by day boats from Marsa Alam. This resort is a must! There are three bases from which to dive: the hotel by truck of straight off the beach front; Marsa Shagra at a reef clad bay next door to the hotel (boat diving to Elphinstone and Dolphin House from here) and most recently, Wadi Lahami (an hours drive south) where you can dive Fury Shoals at St Johns reef - this is the best !

Itinerary

Pioneer Divers is managed and operated by Red Sea Diving Safari which has been running for over ten years along the southern Red Sea coast. Hossam Helmy, the owner, has dedicated himself and his team to discovering this coastline and they have conducted the most extensive survey of the fringing reef.

The diving here is most suited to the slightly more experienced divers as you will need at least 50 logged dives to get out to the best dive site at the off shore reef of Elphinstone and Dolphin House. However there is still plenty of excellent spots to snorkeller and beginner divers along the miles of fringing reef that dominate this coast line.

Accommodation Details

Kahramana Resort:
Designed to blend in with the natural surroundings yet offering unrivalled luxury and quality, this resort is a must! The resort features two sweet water swimming pools. Palm bay pool, opposite to the main restaurant "laguna vista," has marvellous views over the sea with one of its levels dedicated to Juniors. Laguna bay pool with its uniques architecture and lovely surroundings is heated in the winter time. Using natural stones, the bungalows are well-appointed and traditionally comfortable. 55 square meter bedrooms with spacious dressing area, sofa bed, a/c, satellite TV, mini bar and international direct dial telephone. There are three different styles of room: wood, metal and bamboo. All afford the same luxury and space although our favourite is the wood! Unfortunately no picture will do these marvellous rooms justice, you will just have to go and see for yourself! 2 fresh water swimming pools - choice of bars - snack bar - Laguna Vista main restaurants - On The Rocks seafood restaurant and bar - Italian restaurants - large beach area - indoor and open air desert disco - gym - excursions centre.

The 4-star Marina Lodge is located on the shores of the Red Sea’s newest resort, Marsa Alam. Set amongst the glorious corals and amphibious creatures of the Red Sea, with mountainous terrain and the backdrop of all year round sunshine.

Iberotel Coraya
Iberotel Coraya Beach Resort sits on the Coraya Bay with an 800 meter stretch of beach. Built in typical Nubian style the lush gardens contrast beautifully with the surrounding desert. The bay itself is just 10 minutes north of the airport and Port Ghalib. The reef is perfect for all levels of divers; beginners can learn to dive here, night divers can enjoy dives every other night, and for those photographers it is excellent for macro shots.

Hotel Shams Alam (Half Board)
The Shams Alam Hotel is located 47 km south of Marsa Alam in the heart of Wadi Gemal National Park, surrounded by the beautiful desert nature. Enjoy amazing diving and snorkeling sites and a perfect windsurf spot right at the front door. The Club Mistral Centre is on the hotel’s private 1km sandy beach. The restaurant has an open-air dining areaand other amenities include shops, fitness centre and 24hrs medical service and pharmacy. Outside the hotel offers a heated pool, pool bar and a dive and snorkeling centre. For children their is a seperate pool and playground. Designed in ancient Arabic architecture with brick domes and arches this property will give you a feel of real Egypt.

Vime Gorgonia Resort (All Inclusive)
The 5-star Hotel Vime Gorgonia is situated about 50 km south from the city of Marsa Alam in the beautiful desert nature of Wadi el Gimal National Park. Marsa Alam Airport is about 120 km away. The hotel sits right on the beach with two natural coral pools right in front of it. Our Club Mistral Center is 1 km away. If you don’t want to walk the 20 minutes on the beach you can easily take a taxi or we can organize a transfer.
